San Jose - description of the city:
San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica. It is located at an altitude of 1165 m above sea level near active volcanoes such as Irazu, Poas, Turrialba. It was founded by the Spanish in 1737-1738. Nowadays there are 302 thousand inhabitants in the capital. There is an international airport. Main industries include food-processing, leather and footwear, and textiles. The city has a university, the National Museum, and the Museum of the natives.
