Ponce - description of the city:
Ponce is one of the largest city in Puerto Rico. It is know as a Spanish port, which is located in the southern part of the island. The city, which is often called La Perla del Sur, was founded by Spanish settlers in 1692th year.
Today, the central part of the city declared as a «national property». It consist entirely of squares, churches, elaborately decorated colonial houses, and graceful fountains of the colonial period. The «First violin» of Ponce is called the huge cathedral Kateral de La Guadalupe, which rises above the urban landscape in the area of Las Delicias. Around this popular place are considered a large number of interesting museums, including the Museum of Art, which has an impressive collection of 1000 paintings and 800 sculptures, as well as many printed publications.
A distinctive feature of the city, compared to others noisy and vibrant towns of Puerto Rico, it is its unhurried, slow pace of life, which will allow to plunge into the atmosphere of relaxing vacation from the active city life.
Beautiful beaches of Ponce attract tourists form all over the world. After all in this city is everything what tourists need for a quality recreation. There are three beach areas (La Guancha, El Tuque, and part of the Caja de Muertos Beach island), which are located on the banks of the quiet sea. There are developed hotel infrastructure and amazing sights, reminiscent of the Spanish conquistadors of the XIX century.
In the local cafes tourist can treat yourself by popular royal ice cream, raditional Puerto Rican carne-gisada-puertoricana ( braised beef), and traditional meat pastelon-de-carne cake. After, can be visited the museum of music, which presents ethnic instruments. In Ponce tourists can learn in Castilo Seralles about the history of sugar cane processing. Near this museum is also an amazing Japanese garden. There is also the famous 100-meters Kruseta de Vigia cross. From there tourists can enjoy of the most beautiful species of Ponce.
