Albertina

The Albertina was once the Habsburg palace of Duke Albert of Sachsen-Teschen and his wife Archduchess Marie-Christina, the favourite daughter of Maria Theresa. The beautiful Neo-Classical Historic State Rooms in the palace are among the most valuable examples of Classical architecture. They have been opened up to visitors. The Albertina houses one of the world’s finest collection of graphics, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Durer, Rubens, Manet and Cezanne, as well as by Schiele, Klimt and Picasso. It has a million prints, over 65,000 watercolours and drawings and some 70,000 photographs. It is also home to the Sammlung Batliner, a fine collection of paintings under the motto “Monet to Picasso”.
