Philippines or Republic of the Philippines is an island country located in the South East Asia, which is placed in the western Pacific Ocean. The island is broadly divided into 3 locations and they are Luzon, Mindanao and Visayas. The capital city of Philippines is Manila. The latest Philippine population is estimated to be 100,096,496, i.e., as of 1st July 2014.


History of the island has begun after the arrival of the first human beings through primitive boats nearly 67,000 years ago.

Negrito, the tribal people, was firstly inhabited in this island and later groups of Austronesians were migrated to the island and eventually many groups have been developed over there.

Spanish migration began in the year 1565 who has established permanent first settlement over the region. With then the Christianity has been introduced. Many parts of the island cam under the Spanish rule which formed a political structure known as The Philippines.

Later the Spanish rule ended in the year 1898 and after the defeat of Spain in a battle gave rise to First Philippine Republic.

In this 21st century, Philippine is known as the 12th most popular country in the world with economy dominated through fishing and agriculture with the growth of BPO industry and nearly 10% of the population works in overseas.

The Philippines also have international relations that are based on the trade. There is also a Philippine Embassy in the Washington D.C., United States.

Armed forces of a Philippine military force composed of 3 main branches and they are he Philippine Air Force, the Philippine Army, and the Philippine Navy.


The island is located in the Northern and the Eastern hemisphere with a coastline of 36, 289 km. The extreme points of Philippines include Mount Apo in high and Philippine Sea and the South China Sea at the low.


The official languages of Philippines are English and Filipino. There are 19 recognized and the regional languages too.
