History, Map and Language The first evidence of inhabitance in this country is found to be in the 11th century. People of different cultures migrated here for trade and got settled permanently. It was the primary trade route for silk during that time. In the 13th century, Mongolians invaded the country and established their empire here. Kazakhstan people used to live a nomadic life during this period. And livestock is the major source of income. During the 15th and 16th century, a new culture of the natives emerged with a separate language and economy. This culture was called Kazakh. With time, the disputes between the natives and Southern neighbors kept increasing. The Kazakhs gained control of large lands and grew over many parts of the Russia during the 17th century. In the 19th century, the Russian Empire took their land settled in the region. Russians developed the administrative system here. Finally in 1991, Independence was declared by Kazakhstan. The country covers a large area of 2,724,900 sq km and has the population of about 18 million. You will see Russian and China as neighbors of this country on the map. Astana is the capital city. Russian is the official Kazakhstan language while a large part of the population speaks Kazakh. Culture and Holidays The country has a very diverse culture. About 60% people of the population are Kazakhs and 25% are Russians. People of many other origins live here. Kazakhstan anthem is very popular in the neighboring regions. Sports are a great part of culture today. Many games, including football, ice hockey and cycling, are played on high levels. The film industry of Kazakhstan is also very popular and advanced. Besides that, the food of the country is famous in many different parts of the world. The international women’s day is celebrated on a large scale to promote equal rights for Kazakhstan women. Many other national and international holidays are celebrated. Climate and Weather Due to the large are of the country, climate can vary a lot. Temperature can go as low as -50 degrees Celsius in some regions during the winters. In summers, it can rise up to 30 degrees. Every season in this country shows its full extent, whether summer, winter, autumn or spring. For someone who loves changes in weather, it is a perfect place. Travel and Tourism Tourism is not a major industry in the country, but it is still promoted by the government. Transport and accommodation are very easily available in almost every corner of the country. Kazakhstan is very well connected to the rest of the world through planes. You can easily plan and arrange to travel here. Vacation and Destination Kazakhstan is not particularly a vacation destination. Most of the people that come here are on a business trip.
