Antipolo - description of the city:
Antipolo is a town in the Rizal province, 25 km to the east of he capital. The town`s location on the slope of the Sierra Madre mountain rage in the north of the country. Most of the city occupies a tabeland at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, where is a amazing paysage of Manila.
In the 1578th on the territory of the modern town the first Franciscan appeared. They also built a Bоso-Bosо chapel. Latter, their place was taken by the Jesuits and they have turned the settlement into the parish. By 1601th the Christian people of Antipolо was about 3 thousand people, while the local inhabitants of these places were forced to retread deep into the island of Luzon. A little later, lots of Chinese immigrants, who didn’t have enough space in Manila, had «flooded» the town.
In 2009, in Antipolо was built a new provincial government center, replacing the old one. It is located in Pasing. With the moving of the Regional Government, the city began to develop at a rapid pace, and in the 2011th it received the status of «Highly Urbanized».
Today Antipolо called «Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines», because there is an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Patron of the World Travel, which were brought into the country from Mexico in 1926th.
