Yala

Yala - description of the city:

Yala is a capital of the same-name province of the southern part of Thailand. It also a regional and district center. Yala is located at 137 km of south-east from Hat Yai, on the border with the province of Pattani, on the northern part of Yala. There is a train station. The population mainly lives on the right on the right bank of Pattani, some of them are Chinese, Thais, and Malays. Mainly, much of the population is Muslim. The city has no outlet to the sea.

Foundation of the city was in the 16th century, according to research, this event occurred on the heyday of the kingdom of Pattani. Initially, Yala was a small settlement, which has developed rapidly, and was able to reach the economic heights fast. Some periods the Malays ruled the city. Then power was transferred to the Burmese. Finally, at the beginning of the last cenury, Yala became a part of Thailand.

The city has a a lot of of parkland and water bodies. In Yala are several attractions, local seafood cafes are popular with tourists and locals. In a suburb of Yala are many waterfalls, caves, and other natural attractions for those who like to go on a journey.

On the territory of modern Yala are two picturesque waterfalls- Namtok Than To and Namtok Ku Long. Next to the huge waterfalls is Royal Pavilion. For tourist will be really interesting to acquainted with ancient settlements, which are streams of the ancient tribes of Sakai. They live in the same-name village. This tribe live just from 80km from the center of the province. Note that the Sakai tribe retained its own particular way of life and living. The main tribes engaged in cultivation of rice. This population differs are dark skin, facial features, and curly hair.

It is noteworthy that Yala is the cleanest city in the kingdom. The main occupation of the local population is fishing. Also in the town are not any warehouses, manufacturing, and with other cities it connects only by motor vehicles.
