Tokyo is a giant ultramodern metropolis, in which you must live a few months to see at least half of its attractions.

Entertainment, excursions and places of interest in Tokyo:

Sights in Tokyo are almost limitless. First, you should visit the Imperial Palace Kokyo (former Edo Castle), surrounded by parks Higashi-Guéhenno and Kitanomaru, the Tosho-gu temple, the Orthodox Holy Resurrection Cathedral Nikorai-do, the Tokyo National Museum, the new museum of history Edo-Tokyo, the National Science Museum in the Park Ueno with a beautiful virtual exposition, the Sitamasi Historical Museum, the temple of the goddess Kannon (17th century, rebuilt in the 20th century), the National Theatre of Japan with views of the troupes "Kabuki", "No" and "Bunraku".

Other «must sees» of the city are the Tokyo TV Tower (1958, 333 meters), a complex of cutting-edge skyscrapers "Three Towers" on the island Harumi, an observation deck on the 45-storey skyscraper of the government of Tokyo, the "Japanese Bridge" Nihonbashi (1603, in 1911 was replaced by a stone analog), and known for its design Yoyogi Olympic Complex (Yoyogi Koen).

Nikko National Park (135 km north-east of Tokyo) are picturesque lakes (the most beautiful - Tudzenji or Chuzenji), waterfalls Kegon and Shirakumo, gorges, hot springs "Onsen", ancient temples and chapels. The pearl of the resort is the temple complex Tosegu, including 23 architectural monuments, with the famous five-story pagoda and temple Yakusido. Many celebrations, festivals and crowded processions dedicated to religious performances of the Japanese are annually held in Nikko.
