San Jose

San Jose - description of the city:

San Jose is a city in a Southern California that you ought to visit once in your life – as part of a tour of other major cities in Southern California. It has a laid-back culture and some interesting sights.

San Jose is the third-biggest city in California, the tenth biggest in the U.S., and it serves as the county seat of Santa Clara County. San Jose is also the biggest city in Silicon Valley, which is a huge part of Bay Area. It is the biggest city in the northern part of California.

San Jose was founded more than 300 years ago in 1777. It was the first civilian town in a Spanish colony called Nueva California. The city was a farming community that helped out the Spanish military installations in Monterey and San Francisco. When California finally got statehood in 1850, San Jose was the initial capital city of the newly formed state.

After acting as a farming community for more than 150 years, San Jose had some of last remaining land near the San Francisco Bay Area. After that point, it had some rapid population growth, and a lot of it was from the influx of veterans coming home after World War II. San Jose then kept up with its expansion program during the ‘50s and ‘60s by gaining even more land area. The rapid growth of the electronics and technology industries kept accelerating the transition from a small farming community a buzzing metropolitan area.

By the early 2000s, San Jose’s prime location within the technology industry garnered the city the nickname of the “Capital of Silicon Valley”. San Jose is now thought of as a global city, and it is well-known for the affluence of its citizenry, as well as its high cost of living. The population of the city was around 945,000 in 2010.

San Jose was not as populated or urbanized at one point. It used to be a rather rural farming community, but all of that has changed. Because of its unique past, San Jose can offer your family the best of both worlds on a vacation. You can experience nature as well as the city, and you will be near some of the coolest attractions and technology company headquarters.

You’ll also find a varied selection of odd, quirky shops and eclectic restaurants at your disposal. Be sure to try them out. Don’t have a boring time in San Jose – it would be a waste of money!
