Wettingen is a small community in the Baden district in the Aargau canton of Switzerland. With a population of around 20,000, Wettingen is the biggest municipality in the whole canton.

Wettingen is situated on the Limmat river’s right bank, and it is located in the Limmat Valley, prior to the valley in Baden. The majority of the town is located on Wettinger Field, which is basically a plain that is surrounded on every side by natural borders.

Of the remaining land, about 38% is developed (roads or buildings) and the rest (about 2%) is unproductive (lakes or rivers). The highest point of elevation is about 2,800 feet, and it is at the Burghorn, which is a part of the Lagern, and the lowest elevation point is about 1,180 feet at the Limmat.
There are nearby communities, and they are Niederweningen, Ehrendingen, and Ennetbaden to the north. Otelfingen is a community located to the east. Neuenhof is located to the south, Wurenlos is located to the southwest, and Baden is located to the west.
When the data was collected in 2012, Wettingen had a population of about 20,2000. When the data was taken in 2008, almost 26% of the population was composed of nationals from foreign countries. Over the last decade the population has grown at about an 8% rate. The majority of the population is German-speaking (about 84%), and Italian is the second most common language (about 5%). Serbo-Croatian is the third most common language (about 2%).

When the data was collected in 2000, about 49% of the population was Roman Catholic. About 27% of the population was members of the Swiss Reformed Church. Of the remaining part of the population, there are about 40 people who belong to the Christian Catholic religion.
