Geography

Wettingen is situated on the Limmat river’s right bank, and it is located in the Limmat Valley, prior to the valley in Baden. The majority of the town is located on Wettinger Field, which is basically a plain that is surrounded on every side by natural borders.

When the data was collected in 2006, Wettingen had an area of about four square miles. Of this land, about 22% is for agriculture, while 39% is forest-covered. Of the remaining land, about 38% is developed (roads or buildings) and the rest (about 2%) is unproductive (lakes or rivers). The highest point of elevation is about 2,800 feet, and it is at the Burghorn, which is a part of the Lagern, and the lowest elevation point is about 1,180 feet at the Limmat.

There are nearby communities, and they are Niederweningen, Ehrendingen, and Ennetbaden to the north. Otelfingen is a community located to the east. Neuenhof is located to the south, Wurenlos is located to the southwest, and Baden is located to the west.
