Thun

Thun Introduction

Thun is a municipality and city in Thun, an administrative district in the Bern canton in Switzerland, and it has roughly 42,000 residents.

It is situated between the Aare Rivers that goes of the lake, roughly 30 km to the south of the canton. Outside of tourism, instrument manufacturing, and machine building, the biggest garrison in Switzerland, a thriving food industry, and publishing and armaments play an important economic role in Thun.

Sights To See

Thun has a lot to see, and you can read about several of them below:

  • Lake Thun itself offers a lot, and you can get some amazing views of the Bernese Alps, including the Jungfrau, Niesen, Niederhorn, and Stockhorn peaks.
  • The town hall, called the Rathaus, was established in the 1500s.

Thun Castle, which was built in the 12th century, is interesting enough in and of itself, but it also has a history museum inside. The museum has a number of sections about weaponry, rural life, and medieval armor.
