Parc des Bastions
Parc des Bastions Introduction
Located close to the Place de Neuve, the Parc des Bastions is a little nature area right in the center of the city. It is a perfect getaway spot for the young couple that wants to take a walk through a beautiful area of the city. There are trees that line the promenade, and this park has some of the best monuments that the city has to offer. It has a number of chess sets too, and they are life-size! You will have a lot of fun in this park, especially with a date or a partner.
It is located right adjacent to the Old Town, and it is a big green area right in the center of the city. The park is where Geneva’s first garden was established. You can look at the Reformation Wall, a famous sight, and you can see the people who were important to the Reformation and the struggle for church reform there. You can also visit the Palais Eynard, and it is where the executive authority of the city is situated. The University of Geneva is also a good site to see in the area, and you should be sure to check out the library there. The bandstand has a restaurant, which is right next to a giant free life-size chess set, and the chess set is a real delight for anyone passing by. There is even a skating rink that is open to the public for free in the winter, and there is a playground nearby.
Parc des Bastions is an excellent place to bring your family, or a date. It is a quaint, picturesque, and relaxing part of the city that you should really think about visiting when you are in Geneva. Even though 20% of Geneva is covered in parks, and there are lots of parks to see, this is one that you shouldn’t miss. Can you say that you’ve ever seen a life-size chess set in your whole life? You will not soon forget the romantic, delightful stroll that you take with your partner in this idyllic, peaceful little park. Be sure to pull out your smartphone and get some pictures of the life-size chess sets so that you can more easily recall these uniquely odd creations when you get back home.
