Oslo Nye Teater
Oslo Nye Teater is one of the most visited theaters in all of Norway. It was opened in the year 1959 as the result of a merge between Folketeatret and Det Nye Teater. There are four stages that make up the theater. This includes the Oslo Nye Cafescenen, Oslo Nye Trikkestallen, Oslo Nye Centralteatret, and Nye Hovedscenen.
There are 3 theaters that make up the theater system. The main theater is the Hovedscenen and it is in Rosenkrantzgate. It was created in the year 1920 with the purpose of providing a stage for both Norwegian dramas and foreign dramas. However, the main shows at the theater were dominated with comedies for many years. There has been a move to creating a more modern and urbane theater that has a bolder approach with an emphasis on using actors who are younger and just starting to establish themselves in the industry.
The Centralteateret is located in Akersgata, and the puppet theater is Kukketeateret located in Frognerparken.
Tickets can be purchased at the theaters from 11 to 4 on Mondays, from 9 to 6:30 on Saturdays, and from 11 to 5 on Sundays. You can also order your tickets to the theater online and print your tickets out at home.
