Pietermaritzburg - description of the city:

Pietermaritzburg is the name of a considerably large city in the central area of the country of South Africa. It is the primary city and center of the Kwazulunatal provincial region. This city is very important to the economy and the infrastructure of the country due to it being a very pivotal area in the nation’s industry. There are many things being produced here like metals and dairy products. The approximate pоpulation number here is about five hundred thousand.

The weather here is usually fairly hot, with averаge temperatures between twenty-five and thirty, but with record high temperatures going into the forties in some instances. There is a generally standard level of precipitatiоn per year, with about one hundred twenty days of rain annually.

The city’s history begun in the 19th century when it was founded by Dutch pioneers in a time of conflicts and war in the country. Later after this, the city was overtaken by the English, using it as a key point in their local cоlonies. A key point in the history of this place is a certain event in the life of famous activist Ghandi, who refused to comply with racial segregation which the authorities were attempting to impose on him. From this event spawned his campaign of civil disobedience. Another famous figure, Nelson Mandela was arrested in a small town near this city as well.

There is a huge sports presence in this city, with many, many events going on and taking place here, such as cricket, canoe racing, football, motor racing, and other interesting sports; there is much to watch in the way of sports if you are in this city.
