Papua New Guinea officially known as Independent State of Papua New Guinea is located on the Oceania continent that occupies east half part of the island of the New Guinea. The capital of Papua New Guinea is Port Moresby.
Human beings first arrived in the Papua New Guinea around 60,000 years ago according to archeological evidence. The European navigators have sighted this in the early of the 16th century, i.e., by the Portuguese and the Spanish.
Though Europeans have visited and explored the coastline of the island, there were only a few inhabitants till the 1870s.
