Museum of Modern Art Description

The Museum of Modern Art is a modern art museum in Manhattan, New York City. It has been instrumental in creating and collecting modernist art, and is very often cited as the most influential modern art museum in the world. The museum collection has a robust collection of contemporary and modern art, including film, artist’s books, electronic media, painting, drawing, sculpture, prints, and architecture.

The Museum of Modern Art has a library with more than 300,000 books, periodicals, and files on several thousand artists. The archives contain mostly source material associated with the history of contemporary and modern art. It has a restaurant, as well. The restaurant is called The Modern, and the lead chef is Gabriel Kreuther.

The Museum of Modern Art is widely thought to have the most impressive collection of modern art from the western world, and it has more than 150,000 individual pieces, as well as over 20,000 films and more than four million film stills. The collection houses important works from Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Andrew Wyeth, and Frida Kahlo.
