Lubango - description of the city:

Lubango is a town in the Huila province. The town is a south Angolan capital. In a few hours away by motorway is the boundary with the neighboring country Namibia. History of the town is started from the founding it by Portuguese colonists in 1885th. In the past the name of the town was Sa-da-Banderia, in honor of the Portuguese commander. The town`s architecture is typically maintained in the Portuguese colonial style: wide green streets and beautiful low-rise houses.

The climate of the province of Angola is soft and warm. There are many variety of vegetables and fruits grow(such as cassava, mango, papaya), as well as the cabbage, rice, and tomatoes. On pastures are bred buffalos and other cattle. In the Namib Desert is growing one of the most exotic plants-Welwitschia, it looks like a huge green octopus.

Landscapes around Lubango are fantastic. In the 10km drive from the town is the famous Tundavala gorge, which is considered as an Angolan natural wonder. The gorge has a depth of about 1000-meters. From the observation deck is offers a breathtaking view of the coastal region. In the bottom can be seen savannas and tropical forests.

Around the town is another famous sight. Serra da Leba is the ridge where is the popular serpentine road, which is connecting Lubango town with Namibe. Its construction was built by Portuguese in the seventies of the last century, and now it is like a business card of Angola. Beautiful views, the ability to walk through the bush of mango trees, and swim in local waterfalls-all this can be done by visiting the neighborhood of Sera da Leba. The most spectacular views of the road opens from the observation deck at night time. There is around the ridge glows of bright ribbon the winding road( flashing lights of traveling cars create this effect there).
