Lobito - description of the city:

Lobito is a port city disposed in the western part of Angola`s in the Benguela province on the Atlantic coast. The history of the city starts from the founding of the town in 1843th by Portuguese colonists. It is one of the main centers of tourism in the country, which is available again for a visit after a period of civil war. The flourishing of the economy of the city is connected with the reconstruction of port, which has been extended and deepened for large vessels; as well as in connection with the construction of the railway, which connected the Angolan city Benguela and Lobito to the Biera city in Mozambique.

Monuments of colonial architecture creates a unique atmosphere in Lobito-it is built in a traditional Portuguese style tracery Governor`s Palace, the small church of Our Lady of Arrabida, which was built in the 17th century, and the local Ethnographic Museum (in its expositions from ,approximately, 1 500 objects, are presented traditional clothes, ritual masks, pottery utensils, and guns).

Ten-kilometers white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, nearby restaurants and bars, fishing, a warm tropical climate with plenty of sunshine- all of this will give an excellent opportunity to relax for all guests of Lobito. On the beaches of the Baia-Azul and Praia Morena tourists can not just swim and sunbathe, but also go diving. These beaches are disposed between Lobito city and Benguela. There also on the Atlantic coast, tourist can admire the often arriving there flocks of pink flamingos, which is a rare and protected species of local fauna.
