Kyoto - description of the city:

Kyoto is a very large city in Japan. It has over a million citizens living there. In the past, it was one of ancient Japan’s old capital cities. Now, it is the capital of the prefecture of the same name, part of a large city area like a metropolis.

Kyoto located in a subtropical area in regards to its climate; summers are hot and at time, wet, and winters are chilly, with occasional snowfall, a rather rare occurrence for areas in the subtropical zone. Seeing as Kyoto is on the Pacific coast, it can be vulnerable to typhoons at times.

Kyoto is in a valley, set between mountains in a mountain range. This positioning leads to the hot summers and cold winters that the cities receives. The city is over a water table as well, providing a good source of water brought up by wells.

Kyoto is a very historical place. It is well known as a city that has been very well sustained over time. The city has an impressive amount of 2000 religious sites, including temples, royal living quarters, displays of foliage, and other places where ancient architecture can be seen and enjoyed. Many aspects of Kyoto’s past as the former western capital of Japan can be seen, with remains of the former imperial time still present.

In addition, Kyoto is known for having many foods in its exotic array of Japanese cuisine. In particular, the geography of the city makes it possible to grow certain vegetables that cannot be grown in other areas in Japan.

This city has an abundance of museums that can be visited with many different types of displays. The city also has a lot of traditional festivals as a part of its culture; indeed, some of these festivals have been observed for over a thousand years. These museums and festivals are major tourist attractions, and these, along with the thousands of interesting historical areas have brought many visitors to the area.
