Kaduna - description of the city:

Kaduna is a city of Nigeria, the center of the same-name state. t is located in the north-central part of the country. Near the city is Kaduna River. The town is a shopping center and a transshipment point for the neighboring farm areas, due to local railways and roads nodes. The mascot symbol of this region is the crocodile.

The history of Kadunа starts from 1913s, when the city has been built by British. In 1917s the town became the center of the former Northern Region. The city was in this status till 1967s. Historically Kadunа is on the area of the Gvary people( Gbadye), but now Gvari people constitute the minority part in the city. Mostly, suburbs are inhabited by Gvary.  

Kadunа is an important manufacturing center in the north districts of the country. In the city are carried out production of textile and engineering industries, steel, aluminum, and petrol products, as well as bearings. Brown ware, which is produced in the city, is also appreciated highly.In the city is a big market, which was rebuilt after a serious fire in the mid of 1990s.

Because of its multi-confessional, Kadunа is a place of fierce fighting between Muslims and Christians, and it was especially increased after implementation of Sharia lawn the state in 2001s. One of the extreme case occurred in February 2000s when, during a fierce revolt, were killed about 1000 people. the city is still divided so far. A lot of Muslims are in the north part of the town and Christians in the south part.
