Ibadan - description of the city:

In the south-west area of Nigeria there is an amazing resort-city-Ibadan. This town is astonishing not only for its architectural sights, but for its location-it is in the heart of farm districts, whose main business type is cultivation of the famous African cocoa, one of the main suppliers of Europe is precisely this country.

Not only the cocoa makes this city a really inserting to visitors from all over the world. Actually, this city is the main center of the Yоruba ethnic nationality. Ibadаn holds the third place in the country for its size and its population of 4 million local people. This town was built in the country in the late 17th c, and it was operated by the British administration in the period from 1893s to 1960s. Due to the mushroom growth of colonies England turned Ibadan into a major trade center, which it is to this day.

If we look at the city with relative to its historical chronicle, the first thing you should look at is the Ibadаn`s Historical Center, which is located on seven hills. There are clay fortified walls, which are preserved there to this day. On the top of one of the these hills is installed a viewing platform, which offers an amazing perspective of the city and its surroundings. About the modern city, it is located outside the city enclosure and, in general, it is shaped like a horseshoe.

In the modern Ibadаn are districts in European style, modern skyscrapers buildings, and the first in the continent television station with its openwork mast telecenter. This station is considered as the pride of the town and it is also a main referents point. Apart from the station the rank of the most momentous sights of the city is the first higher educational institution of the country`s University of Ibadаn.

In the city are lots of ample opportunities for cultural activity, a major suppler of which can be a very interesting entreatment park Trans-Wonderland, and much more.
