Harare - description of the city:

Harare is a Zimbabwe`s capital city. The town`s name means «one, who never sleeps», and this description fully corresponds to the dynamic lifestyle of this cosmopolitan city. Another name to Harare is «city of flowering trees». It because all year round the city is buried in bloom of exotic trees as acacia, bougainvillea, jacaranda. This city is a starting point for a journey round the world of amazing nature of reserves of Zimbabwe.

The city was founded in 1890th. It is named after the great leader of the Shona people-Harare(one, who never sleeps). Harare is a combination of wide avenues, green parks, and skyscrapers, historic buildings, and numerous shops. In the capital is the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, where can be learned the art and culture of the African peoples. Favorite place to walk for city residents and tourists is the Harare Gardens-the largest park in the city. In the park is interesting to explore the artfully simulated islands, which are simulating humid forests, the Zambezi Gorge, and Victoria Falls. On the granite Kopje hill can be admired the beautiful panorama of the city. 5km south of the center is located Mbare Musica. It is the biggest market and bus station in Harare. There can be bought national musical instruments, clothing, herbs, fruits, and vegetables. 35km from Harare is Cheever Lake, where tourists are invited to take a ride an a boat and go fishing. On the south side of the lake is a wildlife park.

In the city are many historical buildings that can be found in the area of Second St. and along the streets of Robert Mugade. National Gallery shows to visitors not only national art exhibits, but also  the unique exhibitions, as stone carving of Shona. The national Archives are collections of diaries, historical works and research in Africa. In the city are many beautiful green areas. National Botanic Garden is about 68 hectares. It presents more than 900 species of plants of Africa. Chapangu sculpture park offers to inspection a huge collection of black stone carving, there are also frequent exhibitions. Mukuvisi Forest Reserve is a 277 acres of natural  forest, on bank of the Mukuvisi river can be seen giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other exotic animals. In Harare are several golf courses that meet the highest standards.
