Dusseldorf - description of the city:

Dusseldorf is the center of the Rhine-Ruhr region which is home to more than 11 million people. It is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is a financial and international business center. It is also renowned for the trade fairs and for its fashion. Dusseldorf is located in the Blue Banana and is the home of 5 fortune 500 companies as well as several DAZ companies. About a fifth of the world’s premiere trade shows are organized by Messe Dusseldorf.

Jan Wellem, the art loving elector and his wife Anna Maria of Tuscany, were some of the first patrons for several of the significant cultural activities that took place during the 17th and the 18th centuries. Komodchen has long been a prominent political cabaret in Germany. The most famous contribution to popular music from Dusseldorf is the band Kraftwerk. The band is known throughout the world as being one of the most significant bands in the start of electronic music. The city of Dusseldorf has a great night life that visitors to the city often enjoy. Many tourists visit the Bolkerstrabe area while the locals tend to enjoy the bars located on Kurze Strabe and Ratinger Strabe. In 2011, the Eurovision Song Contest was hosted in the city. 

Kraftwerk is an internationally-famous band, and you can listen to and purchase some of their music on iTunes. German techno music is world-renowned, and Dusseldorf is a great city to experience the house, dubstep, and techno music that Germany has to offer. There are several nightclubs, bars, and raves that will give you a real sense of what German music is like. You might hear international music at some of these clubs, so try to go to clubs and parties where local music is playing or local bands are playing.
