Comilla

Comilla - description of the city:

Comilla city is disposed in the east part of Bangladesh, on the Gumtom river. The city is disposed 80 kilometers from the capital city of Bangladesh. It is not a very big city, but guests in the city will find here a lot of interesting things. Comilla is a transport and commercial main point of the country, there is a train station as well.

In the city are well developed food, match, jute industries, and traditional craftwork. In Cоmilla is academy of Agriculture and the branch of University of Dhaka.

The city has many old buildings. Tourists have opportunity to see the mosque, which were built in the Middle Ages. Guests of the city can visit the bustling bazaars. There are many workshops, where craftsmen produced a variety of products. Hindu statues that are made here are of high quality and extensive detailing.

The one of the famous features of the city is Hindu temple of Jagannath, which was built in the 16th century. The temple was built in Bengali style of the temple brick architecture. Initially, the temple deities were established for worship in the temple of Tripura state, and only after a while they were moved to the church of Comilla. The most opportune time to visit Comilla is the cold season, when in the country is dry and cool weather. On the trip on the outskirts of the city, tourists can see the ruins of a Buddhist monastery, which is dating back to the 8th century, as well as they can get acquainted with the life and traditions of the local people. Guests of the city also can visit the national park, where they can see the world of Bangladesh wildlife. There are the Bengal tigers, elephants, rhinos, leopards, deer, and many different species of birds. Almost all species of plants and animals living in Bangladesh are kept in the national park.
