Caracas

Caracas - description of the city:

Today Caracas is a dynamic and modern city, the economic center of the country (unfortunately, going "complete" with all the problems of modern cities, especially high crime). There are more restaurants per capita than in any other Latin American city.

Entertainment, excursions and places of interest in Caracas:

Most sights of Caracas are concentrated in the old town - El Centro. A huge statue of the liberator of Venezuela is situated on the central square, called by his name.

Plaza Bolivar is rich in historical monuments: there is the Caracas Museum, the Caracas Cathedral, the Sacro de Caracas Museum with an extensive collection of religious art, and Casa Amarilla. Just a block from the square stands the Casa Natal de Simon Bolivar, a large colonial-style house, also the house-museum "El Libertador".

Other places of interest include:

Panteon Nacional, the complex El Capitolio Nacional, the church Iglesia de San Francisco, the Museum of Modern Art (which has masterpieces of the best Venetian artists, as well as the paintings of Miró, Chagall, Leger and Picasso), the Museum of Colonial Art and the Museum of Transport.

The park Los Caobos has three museums and two cultural centers - the National Gallery, the Museum of Natural History, Teresa Carreño Сultural Complex (the third largest in Latin America), the Museo del Arte Contemporaneo and the Museo de los Ninos (Children's Museum).

Very close to the city is the Avila National Park, which can be reached by climbing up the mountain by hiking trails or in a comfortable red cabin "teleferico" (cableway).
